Why Study Weddell Seals?

A breeding population of Weddell seals, a prominent marine predator associated with fast ice in a nearly pristine Antarctic marine ecosystem, provides a unique opportunity to learn more about how these animals interact with their environment, and helps us better understand our world. Video includes interview with Montana State University ecologist Dr. Jay Rotella on location at Big Razorback Island, Erebus Bay in Antarctica's Ross Sea.
